Fund Raising Ideas
Counting on you
Fundraisers featuring counting. Count jelly beans, paper clips, marbles, coins, M&M's, etc. Participants pay $1 to enter the counting contest and the winner receives a prize.
Treasure hunt
Sell daily clues to a mystery location where a treasure is hidden. The first person to guess the location wins the treasure.
Dress down for kids day
Have employees pay to dress more casually than on an ordinary workday. Choose one or two days per month or one day per week to "Dress Down for Kids". Have employees wear pins that say, "We're dressed down for kids!" to promote the fact that your organization cares about kids.
Potluck meals
Employees prepare a potluck dish for breakfast, lunch or dinner. Each employee pays to eat. Could be done on a monthly basis.
Flower/plant sale
Sell a rose, mum or green plant. Individuals could purchase the flower/plant and pay an additional $10 to have that flower delivered to someone with a personalized note. The person receiving the flower would not know who sent it unless they pay a $1 to find out the identity of the person sending the flower.
Kiss-a-gram
Great fundraising idea for Valentine's Day. Sell Hershey's Kisses for $1. Let individuals sending the kiss attach a personalized note. Sponsoring groups deliver the kisses and recipient must pay $1 to find out who sent the kiss-a-gram.
Philanthropy is a fancy word for giving. A philanthropist is someone who gives to charity.
Kids News
If your child can't give the kind of cash he'd like, he can give of himself. He can volunteer his time to local charities, or elementary school kids can collect for UNICEF when going door to door on Halloween. Many high schools are now requiring volunteerism as a condition for graduation. Local volunteer ambulance corps and fire companies also are always looking for new recruits—usually 16 and older—to lend a hand. For more information about volunteering and making a match with the right organization, your child should check with his school.
